Petersburg artist Ashley DuRoss is one of 37 Alaskans winning funding and recognition this year from the Rasmuson Foundation through the charitable organization’s Individual Artist Awards program. DuRoss wins a grant of five thousand dollars that she’ll use to display her oil paintings at several venues over the next few years.

The art teacher at Petersburg High School recently had a week-long solo show at the Clausen Museum and also is starting up a graduate degree program this summer. Joe Viechnicki spoke with DuRoss about her work and upcoming shows.
