The organized group Concerned Citizens of the Unorganized Borough, or C-CUB, announced a name change this month. The group formed during the lead-up to the vote over creation of a new Petersburg borough and will continue to meet under the new name, Concerned Citizens for a Unified Borough. Joe Viechnicki spoke last week at Papke’s Landing with George Cole, who serves as ad-hoc secretary treasurer for the group.

Cole also notes the borough assembly’s decision to hold one meeting a month at noon as another example of trying to include more remote residents in the decision making process. CCUB’s next meeting is scheduled for September 7th at George Cole’s house. Updates, including meeting minutes, are posted on a Facebook page, Concerned Citizens for a Unified Borough.
