The Christmas ballet “The Nutcracker” will be performed in Petersburg three times this weekend by the Mitkof Dance Troupe. There are over 140 dancers practicing for this weekend’s shows.

Kathleen Boggs is one of the dance teachers at Mitkof Dance Troupe. She says the Nutcracker has a long tradition in Petersburg.

There are three chances to see the Nutcracker. On Friday and Saturday the show starts at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:00. On Sunday, there is an afternoon show at 2:30 p.m., doors open at 2:00.

Friday night after the show there is an opening night reception.

Tickets are $10 and are being sold in advance at Lee’s Clothing.

The Nutcracker productions are known to sell out so it is best to get tickets early.
