Two major crab fisheries in Southeast open Friday. The tanner and golden king crab fisheries are the first big fisheries of the year.
The opening starts at noon. Angela Denning spoke with Joe Stratman, Lead Crab Biologist for Region 1 about the details:

The average price for last season’s (2013/2014) Tanner crab fishery was $2.53/lb. The average price for last season’s (2013/2014) golden king crab fishery was $12.02/lb.
