Petersburg’s Mitkof Mummers will once again be entertaining Little Norway Festival Goers. The community theater group will be performing the musical, “Shipwreck on Cannery Island”. As Angela Denning reports, the play was written and directed by one Petersburg couple.

“Shipwreck on Cannery Island” will be performed four times at the Wright Auditorium: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7 p.m., doors open at 6:30 p.m. There will also be a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. with doors opening at 1:30 p.m.

Tickets will be sold at the door only.

The performance will be kicking off the Mitkof Mummers’ Vara Wright Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship will go to a local high school student who has participated in the performing arts—dance, theater or music– and plans to continue doing so at a higher educational level. Most of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to the scholarship.
