School District building with no snowThe Petersburg School Board is gathering for a regular meeting at 7 p.m. They plan to consider passing a memorial policy for the district. It’s the second and final reading of that policy.

The school board will also hear about nearly half a million dollars in grant funding that the district has been awarded for fiscal year 2016. That’s over $100,000 less than the grants totaled last year. They include about a dozen different grants mostly from the State of Alaska. Information about them will be presented to the school board by District Finance Director Karen Quitslund.

The board will also consider approving the employment of Melissa Moore as a part-time food service aide and Eric Hoff as a custodian.

The meeting is at 7 tonight in borough assembly chambers. KFSK will broadcast the meeting live. For more on tonight’s meeting, tune into a live call in show Campus Connection, that will follow KFSK’s Midday Magazine at about 12:30 p.m. today. There will be school officials on the air to go over more details about tonight’s meeting and issues facing the district.
