The 4th of July in Petersburg is not just a one day event. Activities run all day on the 3rd and the 4th, which is Monday and Tuesday next week. Things kick off this year on the 2nd with a community BBQ.

All of the events are organized by the borough’s Parks and Recs department in partnership with the Petersburg Chamber of Commerce. The Lighthouse Church also plays a big roll running games all day on the 3rd.

Most of the activities will take place in downtown Petersburg along Nordic Drive. Some games will be happening at the harbors and fireworks are at the ball fields.

Mara Lutomski is the Manager of the Chamber of Commerce. She stopped into KFSK to talk about the 4th of July activities with Angela Denning:

The theme of this year’s parade is, “Independence Day, the Petersburg Way”.
