Middle school wrestlers take second at Stikine tourney

Wrestlers from Mitkof Middle School in Petersburg finished in second as a team at the Stikine Invitational tournament in Craig last weekend.

Ketchikan won the tournament with 221.5 points, just six and a half points ahead of Petersburg.

The team traveled with 19 wrestlers for round robin wrestling Friday and a tournament Saturday. Over the two days Petersburg wrestlers won 67 matches, 47 of those by pins, and lost 35 matches.

Joe Viechnicki spoke with coach Jeff Davidson about some of the highlights.

The regional middle school tournament is in Ketchikan the weekend of February 16.
