Petersburg High School’s baseball team lost its first three games of the season to Ketchikan last weekend.

Head Coach, Jim Engell, says on the one hand the losses are disappointing, but on the other hand, it’s a real learning opportunity for the young team.

He spoke with KFSK’s Angela Denning about the games.

At the ball field Friday, Petersburg’s JV team plays at 1:30 p.m. against Juneau-Douglas. The varsity game starts at 4:30 p.m.

Saturday, the JV team plays at 10 a.m. and the varsity plays a double header, at 1 p.m. and again at 4 p.m.

The regional tournament for baseball is at the end of May in Juneau. Next year, Petersburg will host the tournament.
