A wooden sculpture of an eagle and killer whale was presented to the Rae C. Stedman Elementary School in Petersburg, Sept 19. The sculpture has been erected in front of the school in the rock garden. The eagle is the school’s mascot and the sculpture stands a person and a half tall.

The sculpture was carved by visiting school psychologist Denny Leak with help from former Petersburg High School student, George Skeek. Skeek wasn’t able to attend the dedication but Leak talked about the sculpture.

At the dedication ceremony, Principal Heather Conn addressed the crowd.

Tlingit Drumming and storytelling was led by Brenda Louise.
