Eight members of Petersburg’s youth shooting sports team traveled to Juneau in mid-October for a competition against other kids from Sitka, Juneau, Ketchikan, Eagle River, Palmer and Wasilla. The Devils Thumb Shooters Shotgun Marksmanship Club took home 18 medals and awards in four shotgun disciplines at the Southeast Fall Shoot Invitational. One of the members of that youth team also tested positive for COVID-19 here in Petersburg after returning from the capital city. Assistant coach Craig Anderson wants the community to know that the team took COVID precautions and has not seen another positive test since their return. Joe Viechnicki spoke with Anderson Friday.

That’s Devil’s Thumb shooters assistant coach Craig Anderson. He encourages anyone with questions about the team’s precautions taken for the Juneau invitational to contact him or head coach Larry O’Rear. The team takes a break for the winter and plans to restart practices in March or April.
