Petersburg’s Salvation Army is gearing up for another season of giving to families in need. The church distributes food boxes for Thanksgiving and Christmas to dozens of local families. The church also runs a food bank throughout the year.

The Salvation Army is still taking applications from families for food boxes for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. One application covers both holidays as well as angel tree toys for children.

Major Loni has led the Salvation Army Church for the past three years in Petersburg. She spoke with KFSK’s Angela Denning and says the church’s food bank has received generous donations.

Major Loni says families need to get their applications in as soon as possible for Thanksgiving boxes. They will be distributing the boxes Monday afternoon (Nov. 23) from 3 to 6 p.m.

Families need to stop by the church and sign an application. You can call the church for more information at 772-4586. That’s also the number to call to sign up for ringing the kettle bells in December.
