Petersburg Parks and Rec has long held a Christmas event for children. In recent years it’s been Breakfast with Santa where kids could get photos with Santa and eat food in the gym. Sometimes Santa would even arrive in a helicopter but because of the pandemic, things will be different this year. Saturday 10 a.m. — noon there will be an outdoor event called, “Winter Wonderland.”

Parks and Rec Facility Supervisor, Stephanie Payne, spoke with KFSK’s Angela Denning about the details. She said they couldn’t have a hundred people congregating in the gym this year so they decided to take the event outside.

The parking lot will be closed starting at 1 p.m. Friday so that staff can set up for the event.

At the start of the drive through they will have screeners taking contact names and numbers from the cars. Also at that time, kids will get goody bags that they can use to collect their crafts along the way.

This is a masking event.
