KFSK seeks a qualified candidate to be our Operations Assistant. The Operations Assistant plays an important role as the public face and point of contact for people in day-to-day communication with the station.
The Ops Assistant works in conjunction with our other staff and volunteers to produce the best on-air product possible in service of the mission of KFSK: providing community-oriented communications services to inform, enlighten, and entertain the people of Southeast Alaska.
The Ops Assistant’s work includes a variety of tasks such as on-air hosting, audio recording & editing, volunteer & guest scheduling and interaction, automation & programming, donation entry & logging, EAS compliance, and administrative & financial paperwork.
An ideal candidate possesses a strong desire to learn and refine new tasks, and, over time, the confidence to put their own unique mark on the programming and overall sound of the station.
The successful candidate should also have some flexibility in their schedule to cover meeting broadcasts, basketball games, breaking news events, and other items that sometimes come up on evenings and weekends.
Education: High School Diploma/GED or higher
Experience: No prior experience required, but experience with computers, interacting with the public, and/or on-air hosting experience are preferred
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
• Serve as a primary point of contact for public outreach regarding programming decisions, PSAs, commentaries, etc.
• Update the community calendar including writing clear and concise PSAs
• Coordinate and support approximately 20 volunteer radio show hosts
• Run local programming such as music shows, the KFSK News Quiz, and Tradio
• Financial and administrative tasks such as processing bills and receipts
• Processing and logging cash, checks, and other revenue
• Entering membership donations and coordinating premiums to be delivered
• Communicate and coordinate with regional staff who support the station
• Schedule and manage programming from national and state level sources
• Website management
• Occasional event planning and support
• Assist with programming and automation of underwriting and shows
Salary: Range B, starting at $21.27 hourly or $44,244 annual, DOE, with a competitive benefit plan
