In Juneau, over two hundred runners competed in separate varsity and junior varsity divisions. In the boys’ varsity, Petersburg’s team took fifth place behind Sitka, Juneau-Douglas, Haines, and Thunder Mountain. The Vikings beat out Ketchikan, Craig, Mt. Edgecumbe, Klawock and Metlakatla.

A Petersburg leadership team responding to the recent surge in COVID cases is imploring the public for help. COVID cases were up to about 30 as of Wednesday. The team is asking the public to follow mitigation measures and plans to bring up a masking mandate before the borough assembly on Monday.

The Petersburg School District moved middle and high school students to remote learning Tuesday afternoon. Administration made the announcement at about 11:00 a.m. saying that all middle and high school students would be leaving school and finishing the day on computers at home. Stedman Elementary School was to remain in person.
