Upper Lynn Canal brown bear hunt ends early

State wildlife officials say the brown bear population around Haines and Skagway needs a chance to recover after nearly 50 were reported killed in defense of life and property or by hunters last year. The Alaska Department of Fish & Gae aims to allow the brown bear population to recover by limiting hunting efforts over the next five years.
