The Petersburg Public Library is closing four hours earlier on Mondays. As of the start of July, the library now closes at 4 p.m. instead of 8 p.m.

Petersburg’s school district is asking the Borough to contribute additional funding to this year’s budget. The schools have been scraping by with state funding that has remained essentially flat for six years. The Borough’s contribution to the school district has also remained flat for two decades aside from a small increase last year.

Petersburg’s Borough Assembly will meet on Monday, March 20th at 6 p.m. in the Assembly Chambers.
The Assembly is scheduled to review an ordinance to allow Borough employees to serve on certain Borough boards for a second time. They’ll also look at an ordinance to adjust the 2023 Fiscal Year Budget.

Petersburg’s School Board met to address a near-million dollar deficit in the upcoming fiscal-year budget. The board is building a budget for next year. And to keep up regular programming, they’ll need up to a million dollars to cover the shortfall from the last fiscal year.
