Petersburg’s violence prevention and advocacy organization has a new director. Sklyer DuPont has actually been working remotely for WAVE since this summer, but only arrived in Petersburg a couple weeks ago after months of searching for a place to live.

A Petersburg nonprofit that has long worked to combat violence is looking to restart its safe house program. The state of Alaska has some of the highest rates of intimate partner violence in the nation.
