There are 50 active COVID cases in Petersburg now. Seven new cases were added Thursday night. There are 99 pending test results through the medical center so providers are expecting more cases.

The outbreak hasn’t been traced to any single event but it’s been widespread. “Young kids all the way up to people in their 80s and everywhere in between,” said Public Health Nurse, Erin Michael. “It’s an equal opportunity infection.”

Petersburg’s COVID cases continue to climb from an outbreak that appears to have begun last week. There were 36 positive cases as of this morning at 8 a.m. The positivity rate of those being tested is 9.3 percent.
