BOF opposes crab proposal backed by ADFG and Southeast Alaska industry groups

The proposal would have created an equal harvest for permits in Southeast Alaska when the state’s preseason estimates were low. Then it would give permit holders equal amounts of crab to catch. If the harvest level was above 200,000 pounds, management would return to a competitive fishery. The proposal would have expired in three years unless renewed by the board.
