PETERSBURG, AK <p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; LINE-HEIGHT: normal"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt; FONT-FAMILY: "Times New Roman","serif"">Petersburg runners helped four different teams complete the 110 mile Klondike International Road Relay earlier this month. </span><span style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt; FONT-FAMILY: "Times New Roman","serif"">The annual 10-leg relay race is run from Skagway, across the border and through the night to Whitehorse, Canada. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p><span style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt; LINE-HEIGHT: 115%; FONT-FAMILY: "Times New Roman","serif"; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA"><span style="mso-tab-count: 1"> </span>Omega-3 fatty acids, all-women, over 40, masters team from Petersburg, finished with an overall time of twenty hours, 10 minutes and 5 seconds. Mary Clemens was the team captain agin this year. The team included Marlene Cushing, Sharon Hunter, Kate Kowalski, Robin Parr, Brenda Norheim, Donna Marsh, Andrea Hernandez, Julie Lappetito and Annabelle Baker. Kate Kowalski had hip problems but someone filled in for her. </span></p>

The team included Sandi Meeks, Beth Loesch, Rachel Cramer, Marina Whitacre, Jillian Chown, Justin Strawther, Paul Shapiro and Randy Lamb. Captain Morrison said she was pleasantly surprised by their fast overall timing of 17 hours, 25 minutes and 28 seconds, which she owes to the youthfulness of the team.<o:p></o:p></span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; LINE-HEIGHT: normal"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt; FONT-FAMILY: "Times New Roman","serif"">Doug and Kathy Riemer from Petersburg also competed in the relay with the Screaming Riemers, a Juneau team made up of old friends. <span style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman','serif'">The Screamin’ Riemers finished the race in 18 hours, 17 minutes and two seconds.<o:p></o:p></span></span>

Her team finished the race in 18 hours, 39 minutes and six seconds.</span></p>
