Petersburg will ask the legislature this year for funding to design and possibly build a new Police Station. City Councilors reviewed a very preliminary architects report and cost estimate for the project at their regular meeting Wednesday night. The majority seemed inclined to lobby lawmakers this session for the whole construction cost, roughly 5 to 6 million dollars. But there was disagreement over the wisdom of asking for that much money without an actual plan for the facility. Matt Lichtenstein reports:
