Petersburg High School freshman Izabelle Ith took first place in two events at the state small schools track and field championships in Anchorage last weekend.
Ith was a state champion in the 100 hurdles and triple jump. She took second in her other two events, the 100 meter dash and the long jump.
The girls team placed fifth among 1A-2A and 3A schools. Grace Christian was the top girls team.
Also for Petersburg, Grace Weller was fifth in both the 1600 and 3200. The girls relay teams also did well. The four-by-200 relay team was sixth, the four-by-400 came in seventh and the four-by-800 team took third.
Meanwhile, Petersburg’s boys team finished 14th. Anchorage Christian was the top boys team and Sitka finished eighth. For the Vikings, Ben Zarlengo was fourth in the 110 hurdles. He took third in the discus and sixth in the 300 hurdles.
Alan Jensen was fourth in the discus and Billy Ware took sixth in the high jump.
