It took a 90 day session and two special sessions but the Alaska Legislature finally passed an operating budget last week. It ended a stalemate between the House and the Senate over the state’s multi-billion dollar budget deficit.

The $5 billion budget includes money for education, restoring some of the cuts that were previously proposed. For Petersburg School District, waiting until June to the see the state’s budget has not been easy, according to Superintendent Erica Kludt-Painter.
