The Petersburg Viking Swim Team recently competed in Ketchikan where Juneau Douglas was also visiting. Individual Petersburg swimmers placed in several events.

Petersburg Junior Ben Higgins took first in the 200 yard freestyle on Friday with a time of 1:58.33 and second in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:24.21. On Saturday, Higgins finished first in the 100 yard freestyle with a winning time of 53.58.

Higgins was followed by Sophomore Van Abbott in both races with a time of 2:08.33 in the 200, and 5:52 in the 500.

The relay team consisting of Van Abbott, Ethan Kludt-Painter, Andrew Weller, and Ben Higgins took second place in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:50.57 on Saturday.

Junior, Mariah Taylor, earned second place in the 200 Yard I.M. with a time of 2:43.18 on Friday.

Junior, Izabelle Ith took second in the 50-yard freestyle on Friday with a time of 26.21. She also got second in the 100-yard free style on Saturday with a time of 58.45, and first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:17.69.

Freshmen Alyssa Guthrie earned second in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 6:18.07 during the Friday races.

Sophomore Britton Erickson took second with a time of 1:40.56 on Friday in the 100 yard backstroke.

KFSK student Intern Rosa Lopez talked with Coach Carlisle about their performance. He said that they did well despite their small team.

Overall, Petersburg High School came in third place both days with 171 points on Friday, and 117 points on Saturday. Juneau Douglas took first and Ketchikan second.
