The Petersburg High School wrestling team opened up the season on the road at the Tom Sims Invitational meet in Wrangell last weekend. The Vikings took on wrestlers from 13 other Southeast schools, large and small, and finished in ninth place. Ketchikan won the tournament and the host Wrangell Wolves came in second followed by the Craig Panthers. Petersburg had one champion. Buddy Stelmach took first at 126 pounds. Joe Viechnicki spoke with Petersburg coach Dan Van Swearingen about his team and the start of the season.
