One Petersburg High School student has just wrapped up her studies and is looking forward to starting her next school year on a different continent.
16-year-old Marissa Nilsen will be spending her junior year abroad in Belgium, with the Rotary Youth Exchange Program. During that time she’ll be living with host families and going to school and possibly seeing other parts of Europe with other exchange students.
Joe Viechnicki spoke with Nilsen about her upcoming year.

Nilsen leaves for Belgium in August. She’s been doing some fund raising to cover the cost of the program She has a go-fund-me account as well for people to contribute. Another student Jasmine Ieremia just returned from a year abroad in Thailand through the same program. And Carolina Micluf from Sao Paulo, Brazil, spent the year in Petersburg as well.
