A Petersburg man arrested earlier this year on a drug charge has been indicted by a grand jury on two federal counts for child pornography.

28-year-old Marvin Jackson is charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a child, with one alleging he knowingly transported child pornography, according to court documents. A second count alleges Jackson knowingly possessed child porn.

Jackson was arrested in January and charged with possession of heroin with the intent to distribute after officers allegedly found he had transported nearly 20 grams of the drug to Petersburg from the Seattle area. He was later indicted on that charge.

Jackson was released on $5,000 bail in January. A not guilty plea was entered by a public defender on his behalf but Jackson later agreed to a change of plea, according to court documents. That hearing will be held August 22nd.

It was during the initial investigation, officials say, that local Southeast Cities Against Drugs Task Force and FBI Task Force officers allegedly found Jackson in possession of what appeared to be child pornography.

A search warrant was executed by federal agents at Jackson’s home at 501 Lumber St. with the help of local police on May 12th.

Jackson was indicted on June 21st and arrested again on June 24th.
