Four swimmers from Petersburg High School’s swim team are heading to the State meet in Anchorage this weekend. The high school swim team competed at the regional meet in Juneau last weekend.

Van Abbott, Britton Erickson, Maddy Whitethorn, and Maria Pfundt will be competing at state in individual events.

Petersburg Swim Coach Andy Carlisle tells KFSK’s Angela Denning that overall the team did outstanding at the regional meet.

The swimmers going to State leave Wednesday for Anchorage.

Here’s another look at some of the Region swim results for Petersburg:

Van Abbott took first place in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 49.51 seconds. Abbott took second place in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1 min., 01:85 seconds.

Britton Erickson took second place in the 50 yard freestyle event with a time of 23.18 seconds and third place in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 50.53 seconds.

Maddy Whitethorn took third place in the 50 freestyle event with a time of 26.01 seconds and fourth place in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 57.23 seconds.

Maria Pfundt took fourth place in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1 min., 04:69 seconds.

The boys 200 yard freestyle relay took second place at Regions. The team consisted of Rylan Wallace, Ethan Kludt-Painter, Van Abbott and Britton Erickson. The same group took third place in the 400 yard freestyle relay.
