Several Petersburg High School students participated in the Region 5 Honor Music Festival in Klawock October 24-26.

The students from Petersburg included one in band and six in choir.

Senior Joey Giesbrecht was 1st chair, bass clarinet in band.

Petersburg choir students included: Sophomore Alex Worhatch-Bass 1, Sophomore Brooklyn Dormer Soprano-II, Senior Jasmine Ieremia-Alto II, Junior Chad Lopez-Bass I, Junior Tolin Eddy-Bass I, and Senior Julia Murph-Alto I.

The students in the festival first had to audition with their music directors. Then in September, all of the directors got together and chose the best ones.

Petersburg music teacher Matt Lenhard tells KFSK’s Angela Denning that it’s a long process getting ready for the festival:

The pep band and jazz band will be taking trips to festivals at the end of January.
