It was an unusually cool and dry November in Petersburg.

The National Weather Service reports the average daily temperature here last month was 31 and a half degrees, just over four degree below normal. That’s the 11th coolest November on record for the community. The National Weather Service has climate records for Petersburg dating back to the 1940s.

It was also the driest November in 32 years with just 4.62 inches of rain. That’s the third driest November on record and just 38 percent of the normal rainfall total of 12.22 inches.

The November snowfall total was 10.3 inches, just a little above the average of 9.1 inches.
