Five Petersburg High School swimmers competed at the State meet at Bartlett High School in Anchorage over the weekend.

The PHS swimmers competed in six events and placed in four of them.

Allie Morgan took fourth place in the Girls 200 yard freestyle event with a time of 2 minutes, 1 second.

Maria Pfundt took 7th place in the Girls 100 yard butterfly event with a time of 1 minute, 2 seconds.

The Girls relay team took 7th place in the 400 yard freestyle event with a time of 3 minutes, 50 seconds. Swimmers were Maddy Whitethorn, Maria Pfundt, Alyssa Guthrie, and Allie Morgan.

The only boy swimmer for Petersburg was Peter Kowalski. He finished 8th place in the Boys 200 yard freestyle event with a time of 1 minute, 52 seconds.

Petersburg Swim Coach, Andy Carlisle, spoke with KFSK’s Angela Denning about the State meet and said the team did really well.

The Viking Swim Club meet starts at 5 p.m. on Friday and runs on Saturday and Sunday from about 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
