Police officers swarmed into Petersburg Medical Center at 2 p.m. Wednesday as some staff left the building. It was all part of a training session on how the hospital would respond to a shooter at the facility. Staffers assembled nearby at a rally point and reviewed what worked and what didn’t while police went through the medical center and tested other staff barricaded in place. Joe Viechnicki caught up with Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department spokesman Dave Berg, along with the medical center’s Phil Hofstetter, Jennifer Bryner and Angela Menish at the John Hanson Sr Hall.

Wednesday’s drill at the medical center involved several law enforcement agencies, school officials and other volunteers.
