Petersburg High School’s varsity volleyball team won three matches and lost three at the second of two seeding tournaments of the season last weekend, this one in Klawock. Like the first seeding tournament last month, the Vikings again lost to Craig, Klawock and Wrangell and beat Metlakatla, Skagway and Haines. That locks up the number four seed for Petersburg at the regional tournament later this month in Wrangell. Joe Viechnicki spoke with head coach Jaime Cabral about the weekend’s action.

That’s PHS head volleyball coach Jaime Cabral. The volleyball teams play Friday in Wrangell and then have their last home matches on Saturday against Wrangell. Junior varsity  games start at 5:30 p.m. in the high school gym and the varsity plays at 7:15. Recognition for the five seniors on the team, Brooklyn Dormer, Tatum Hagerman, Kiana Kivisto, Miranda Nilsen and Nina McCay, will follow that varsity game. The regional tournament is in Wrangell November 21-23.
