A 27-year-old man is accused of murder in connection with a teenager’s suspicious death in the Southeast village of Kake.

Two years ago Jade Williams was found in her home not breathing. Efforts to revive her at Kake’s medical clinic were unsuccessful. She was 19.

On Saturday, police in eastern Washington state arrested Isaac David Friday in connection with her August 15, 2017 death.

The arrest comes after a grand jury in Sitka indicted Friday for murder. The grand jury heard from more than a dozen witnesses and reviewed evidence from numerous search warrants executed during the investigation.

Court documents this month provide few new details into the young woman’s death in the small Kupreanof Island community.

Prosecutors say the investigation involved police in Alaska, Oregon and Washington state but declined further comment. Online records show Friday is being held in Walla Walla County on $500,000 bail.

Once in Alaska, arraignment on the felony murder charge would take place in Petersburg Superior Court.
