Petersburg emergency officials have reported another COVID-19 case for a Petersburg resident who is currently not in Alaska.

Petersburg’s emergency operations center announced the new case Saturday, December 26. Alaska Public Health was notified of this positive test result from earlier in the month for a local resident who is out of state and won’t return until they are fully recovered. Nevertheless it shows up on the case count for Petersburg, now with this one active case and a total of 38 reported for the community, both resident and non-residents, since the start of the pandemic.

Petersburg remains at low risk for community spread and at yellow status under the draft community risk plan.  The EOC is advising against travel at this point of the pandemic but urges people who are traveling to plan for isolation and quarantine.

The Petersburg Medical Center’s COVID hotline is 772-5788.
