Petersburg’s municipal election is coming up October 5th and absentee voting is already underway. There are contested races for assembly, school board and hospital board this year and voters will be deciding two ballot questions.

Joe Viechnicki spoke with borough clerk Debbie Thompson for the nuts and bolts of how this year’s election will work and whether it will look similar to last year’s voting.

The deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail is Thursday, September 30th. Electronic ballots absentee can be sent out up until the day before the election. In person absentee continues weekdays through noon on Monday October 4th at the municipal building.

In person voting on election day is 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the community gym, spread out like it was last year.

If you have any questions about the election or would like to help out on election day call Thompson at 772-5405. There are sample ballots and other information on the borough’s website.
