Petersburg’s youth swimming team competed at their first out-of-town meet in two years last Friday and Saturday. Eight swimmers with the Viking Swim Club traveled to Ketchikan for the Mike Smithers Invitational. The club hasn’t traveled to other communities in the past two years because of the COVID pandemic. In Ketchikan the team of mostly middle-school-aged swimmers competed in 66 individual events and took first in 19 of them.

Joe Viechnicki spoke with coach Scott Burt about his team.
