A Petersburg man is pleading not guilty to two felony drug charges after police said they found methamphetamine and fentanyl in his car.
According to police reports, Alaska Wildlife Trooper Cody Litster conducted a traffic stop on 32-year-old Cory Drew Wilson on August 5. After smelling alcohol, Litster asked Wilson to step out of the car, and a small ziploc fell onto the ground. Local police officers also responded and said the contents in the bag tested positive for 5.5 grams of meth. Police said Wilson told them he had two guns behind his driver’s seat.
After receiving a search warrant, officers said they found 17.62 more grams of meth, 6.21 grams of fentanyl, along with a digital scale in the car. They also found a third gun in his car.
Petersburg police estimate the approximate combined value of the drugs to be between $8,300 and $12,450.
Wilson is being charged with two felonies involving a controlled substance in the second and third degree. He was originally charged with three additional felonies for misconduct involving weapons in the second degree, but those charges were dropped by a grand jury on Aug. 13.
Wilson pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on Aug. 17.
His public defender did not immediately respond to calls and emails requesting comment.
