Forest Service chief: agency auditing Alaska region timber program

The chief of the U.S. Forest Service has responded to the Petersburg borough that the federal agency is conducting an audit of the timber program on national forest land in the Alaska Region.

Student glacier survey team reports smooth sailing

Petersburg High School students had an easier time this year surveying the position of the LeConte Glacier near Petersburg. A team of six students continued the tradition of recording the annual location of the glacier’s face dating back to 1983.

PHS track teams head to regional meet

Petersburg High School’s track teams wrapped up their regular season with a meet in Ketchikan last weekend. The Vikings only competed against the Kayhi Kings at that meet and athletes were allowed to enter as many events as they wanted. That led to some pleasant surprises for the local teams.
