Petersburg’s borough assembly Monday voted to transfer and change one lease of borough property near the waterfront but decided to wait on the transfer of another.

Petersburg mayor to attend arctic conference in Norway

Petersburg’s mayor plans to attend an international conference on sustainable development in the arctic in January. Mark Jensen told the borough assembly Monday that Norwegian ambassador Kåre Aas invited him to the Arctic Frontiers conference January 22nd through the 27th in Tromsø, Norway.

Petersburg’s annual chili, beer competition on tap

Petersburg’s Sons of Norway Hall Friday, November 25th will be warmed up by the community’s annual competition for brewers and chili cooks. The 11th Annual Brew and Stew Festival is just after the community tree lighting. Petersburg’s roller derby team, the Ragnarok Rollers, is organizing the event again this year as a fund raiser for travel this winter.

Thanksgiving food boxes given to 88 needy families

Community volunteers and Petersburg’s Salvation Army Church are donating food boxes to local families to help them have a Thanksgiving meal at home.

PHS volleyball eyes region tournament after final home stand

Petersburg’s varsity volleyball team won both its matches against Wrangell Friday and Saturday to close out the regular season.
The Vikings won a home match in three games Friday and then an away match in Wrangell Saturday by the same score.
