There were no injuries from a landslide near Petersburg on Halloween night but it was still a close call for some nearby residents. Landslide researchers in Southeast Alaska are keeping tabs on this one and others in order to better predict slides in the future.

Petersburg Utilities Restored After Landslide

A utility pole was knocked down by a landslide in Petersburg on Monday, October 31st. A team of people worked around the clock to clear debris and restore power, phone and internet connections. KFSK’s Rachel Cassandra talked with Petersburg Borough’s Utility Director, Karl Hagerman.
