Two men were rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard Tuesday about one mile southwest of Petersburg. The passengers aboard the Deborah K reported that they had struck a rock and were taking on water near Wrangell Narrows.

The Deborah K is a 24-foot pleasure craft.

The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Anacapa rescued the men and a small boat crew took the Deborah K under tow and safely transported them all to the port in Petersburg.

The Coast Guard command center watchstanders at Sector Juneau received the emergency call.

Lt. Ryan Erickson, chief of incident management, says the men aboard the Debra K did the right thing by quickly contacting the Coast Guard.
There were no reported injuries.

The weather on the scene was calm at the time of the rescue.
