About 600 people in Petersburg use the Health Fair as a time to check their health status. The every-other-year event falls on April 9. This week launches blood draws leading up to the health fair. The event allows people to get lab work done cheaper than normal.

Liz Bacom is the Lab and Imaging Manager for the Petersburg Medical Center. She spoke with Angela Denning about the health fair and says a lot has changed with how its run.

Bacom stresses that the lab work does not replace going to a physician for a wellness checkup.

At the health fair, there will be a professional giving a presentation on how to interpret your blood test results and experts talking to people about diet and exercise.

To schedule an appointment for a blood draw, go to the medical center’s website and choose what day and time you want. You can schedule from 7 to 8:30 a.m. If you need help with getting it done on-line call Sarah Holmgrain at the medical center at 772-4291, extension 5737.
