Petersburg High School’s baseball team won its first two games of the season, taking two out of three against the Thunder Mountain Falcons in Petersburg Friday and Saturday.
Friday the Vikings won 10-9 on a walk off hit by Stuart Conn. Petersburg won the first game of a double-header on Saturday 5-4 with a walk-off RBI by Ethan Bryner. The Falcons grabbed the second game Saturday 8-7. The Vikings improve to 2-7 this season and have one more road series before the regional tournament. Joe Viechnicki spoke with coach Jim Engell about the wet weekend of baseball.
Engell says the team had strong play from both the outfield and the infield over the weekend, with the defense turning several double plays. The Vikings have this weekend off and will head to Sitka May 19th-20th. The regional tournament is the following week in Petersburg.
