Local seniors and people with disabilities this week can learn more about their options for making their lives a little easier and accessing services that are available in the region. An employee with the Juneau office of Southeast Alaska Independent Living, or SAIL, is visiting Petersburg and meeting with clients and the public. SAIL provides help, education and outreach for hearing and vision problems, mental health needs and access, among other challenges faced by people living on their own.
Joe Viechnicki spoke with independent living advocate Leslie Wood about her organization and what it offers.

Wood is in Petersburg through Thursday, September 15 and says people can contact her on her cell phone at 907-209-7756 or call SAIL’s office in Juneau at 907-586-4920.
