The Petersburg High School boys and girls swim teams took second place in a home meet against Juneau-Douglas and Ketchikan last weekend.

The Juneau-Douglas girls and the Ketchikan boys took first place.

Andy Carlisle is the Petersburg swim coach. Angela Denning spoke with him about the home meet and he said it went really well.

Several Viking swimmers won their individual events.

Ben Higgins won the 500 yard freestyle on both Friday and Saturday.

Izabelle Ith placed first in the 50 yard freestyle on Friday and the 100 freestyle on Saturday. Maria Pfundt won the Girls 50 free on Saturday.

Van Abbot won the Boys 100 yard breaststroke on Friday and the 200 yard freestyle on Saturday.

Britton Erickson won both the Boys 200 Individual Medley and the 100 breaststroke on Saturday.

Rylan Wallace took first in the Boys 100 butterfly on Saturday.

The Vikings took several firsts in the relays as well.

The Petersburg girls won the 200 yard medley relay on Friday AND Saturday with Madison Whitethorn, Mariah Taylor, Izabelle Ith and Alyssa Guthrie.

The girls also won the 200 yard freestyle relay on Friday with Kate Bisset, Brynn Lister, Izabelle Ith, and Mariah Taylor.

The Petersburg boys won the 200 freestyle relay on Friday AND Saturday with Van Abbott, Britton Erickson, Ben Higgins, and Rylan Wallace.

On Saturday, both the girls and the boys took first in the 400 yard freestyle relay. For the girls it was Madison Whitethorn, Mariah Taylor, Maria Pfundt, and Alyssa Guthrie. For the boys it was Van Abbott, Britton Erickson, Ben Higgins, and Rylan Wallace.
