A $4,500 high end treatment chair like this is being purchased for the Petersburg Medical Center with funds from Beat the Odds.

Beat the Odds is a local organization that supports people who are dealing with cancer.

This year, the group is giving out $26,000 to individuals and organizations that help others with cancer support.

Beat the Odds fund raises through two main events—the Beat the Odds run-walk in the fall and the Circle of Life run-walk in the spring.

Michelle Parker is the chairperson of the organization. She sat down with KFSK’s Angela Denning to talk about how the $26,000 will be spent this year.

The 6th annual Circle of Life run-walk will take place April 29 to help raise funds and awareness for local cancer support. The Circle of Life event was started in memory of Michael Wittstock and this year it is being held on his birthday.

The run-walk starts at Sandy Beach Park at 9:00 a.m. You can register there at 8:00 a.m. or preregister at Lee’s Clothing. It’s $10 and the first 150 poeple also receive a beanie hat commemorating the event.
