Petersburg’s school board Tuesday night will be considering contracts for a list of tenured and non-tenured teachers. They will also consider administrative recommendations to hire Jenna Turner as the middle and high school counselor and Mikailai Potrzuski as a middle school teacher.

The board will be asked to approve out of state travel to Washington DC for high school students to attend Close-Up next year.

The school board will hear the monthly accounting report, which includes bills, payroll, electronic fund transfers and other financial details with the district.

There will be administrative reports from the principals and the director of activities. Superintendent Erica Kludt-Painter will not be attending the school board meeting because she’s in Juneau for the Legislative Fly-In for Superintendents.

In other business, the board will hear from High School Principal Rick Dormer about Passive Alcohol Sensors. A PAS is a small hand held electronic device that detects alcohol in the air by taking air samples. The device does not require blowing into it, like a traditional breathalyzer. It measures the presence of alcohol but does not determine the level of alcohol that is present.

The school board will be meeting in the high school library at 7 p.m. It is open to the public. KFSK will broadcast the meeting live.

Also, tune in today for Campus Connection, an informational program with Board President Mara Lutomski who will be discussing the meeting agenda. Campus Connection follows the Midday Magazine at 12:30 p.m.
