Over 600 people had their blood drawn for testing in advance of Petersburg’s community health fair this Saturday, April 14.

Kelsey Lambe, public relations coordinator for the Petersburg Medical Center, is coordinating the health fair this year and it’s her first health fair.

“We’ll have booths in the community gym,” Lambe said. “We’ll have speakers in the craft room and in the lobby next to where you sign in. And we will have fitness classes in the fitness room .” Those classes, running about 20 minutes, will introduce people to different workouts like zumba, yoga, barre and weight lifting.

For people who had blood testing done, some results are already available online through the patient portal on the medical center’s website. A print out will be available for people at the fair.

Besides two presentations on diabetes by Rick Mystrom, Lambe said several other guest speakers are scheduled.

“Kit Wu who is the med student right now, she’s gonna talk about bones and the DEXA (bone density) machine and (Dr.) Jennifer Hyer on lab results and then WAVE (Working Against Violence for Everyone) is gonna do a talk for personal safety for parents.”

There will also be screening for hearing, blood pressure and vision.

The fair is 10-1 at the community gym. Organizations can still sign up for a booth through Friday by calling Lambe at the medical center at 772-4291 ext 5737. There’s more information on the medical center’s website.
